I like to workout at home but one of the perils of working out at home to any progressive degree is that eventually there will come a time that you want to push yourself beyond the realm of what would be considered safe in the masses. If that is you, then this is not the item for you. However, if you leave your ego at the door and are simply looking for a sturdy rack to assist you getting under the bar, then this is the rack for you. I''ve had over 30o pounds on this rack and have had no problems with it and as long as you stay controlled with it, you should be fine.

It appeared used when I got it. Well packaged, but used (dents in the metal, scratches, bent washers, etc.). It was fairly easy to put together, but some parts definitely require two sets of hands, so have a buddy around to help. It took my wife and I maybe an hour from start to finish. A tip: use the diagram they give you and lay everything out so you know where it will go before you get started. Once it''s together it''s not fully adjustable the pins don''t have a hole right where I''d like to place them, so I have to go a little above or a little below every time, depending on what I''m working on. Other than this disappointment with construction and the condition of the pieces, it''s safe, it''s solid, it''s held up over time, and I''m glad I went with this one instead of the rest that were $50 $100 more.

If you want something that is professional gym grade construction you will need to spend a little more. This unit is priced right for what it is and I''m happy with it. It works fine (I''ve been using it for a couple of months now) and functions fine, but just know it isn''t that rock solid heavy gauge iron like you''ll see at the gym. I use and extra set of rubber coated 45lbs plates to help anchor it to the concrete floor in my home gym. It has two bars that stick out for stacking plates on as seen in the picture and I do recommend leaving some plates on there permanently for stability. I also have a dumbbell rack behind it which it rests on for even more stability. When I''m squatting and step back to set the bar on the rack when it is at it''s highest setting (I''m 6''3"), it is a little less than rock solid, but it works fine. One of the "towers" leans to one side slightly because as seen in the picture there is no cross support midway up as it would be in the way when using as a bench press rack. This leaning does not really bother me or affect it''s functionality.

I would buy it again and am happy with it for the $$

A good product however, I am a little disappointed with the stability of this item. It is not sturdy enough to suit my expectations with minimal weight on it and it is not wide enough by about 4 inches. The assembly directions were lacking. Fortunately it is fairly simple to put together because the directions are not that detailed. Overall it does what I need it to do and given the price, it is what I paid for, there are more expensive items that offer more stability I''m sure. The stability and width and assembly directions are my small concerns although would not prevent me from recommending it or buying it again, just small improvements that could be made to make it a 5 star product for the money.
