I bought this to wear as part of a Halloween costume. (I was Perry the Platypus) It worked for that. Afterwards I just wore it as a regular hoodie under a slightly heavier jacket and it kept me warm fine. On it''s own it wouldn''t do much for you in cold(under 40 degrees F)but it could be a good part of a layering plan. Held up in the wash fine too.

Softly cotton and warm enough. Washes and dries beautifully and has not shrunk at all. Both my husband and I love it.
