There are a lot of G-Shock collectors that will feel that way ^. But hear me out. I would say the G-Shock is more of either an *extreme* sports watch; like mountain climbing or white water kayaking, and maybe a better everyday watch. But this one has the heart rate monitor feature, which makes it a much more useful workout companion.
The heart rate range we should strive for during a workout is 60-85% of our max. heart rate. (Max = 220 age) So the watch helps a person to stay in his sweet spot without overdoing it. G-Shock? One would have to stop exercising to manually take one''s pulse. Not ideal.
The display on this watch is bigger than that of any G-Shock, even though the watch is slimmer; and the digits are nice & dark against the background.
The stopwatch can be linked to the work out, so that when one''s starts it, it starts logging data, and when you reset it, it saves that data to memory. Recalling that data is as simple as going to the next screen and pressing the upper right button to scroll through that data. (I''m mostly interested in how many calories I burnt and how long the workout was.)
Same for the countdown timer. There is an option for two countdown timers for interval training: one for the hard part, and one for the easy part, and it can be set to repeat up to 300 times. Without repeat, it can be a timer for the main workout, then a cool-down period. Or, simply disable the second timer and repeat, and use it to time the cooking of your frozen pizza in the oven. ;) Also good for daily use is the 3 alarms.
The part of the display that protrudes to the left can be used to hold one''s sleeve out of the way, when one is wearing long sleeves.
I did consider Polar brand watches, and also the cheaper Pyle brand ones. But Casio just has so much experience in digital watch-making, that I felt the fit & finish of this one would be better. I''m not disappointed in that area either.
The chest strap (or "bra" as I like to call it) that is included just needs to have its foam-rubber pads moistened with water before strapping it on. Saliva doesn''t work well; use either plain water or sweat.
Great watch; I''d buy it again "in a heartbeat." ;)

This watch has about every gadget anyone trying to get into shape could need. The only thing is that it is extremely difficult to learn how to operate. Once you get that down though there is no conditions that it and the heart rate sensor cannot go through. I have worn this in the ocean, the pool, the sauna, and while running. It still works with an accurate reading.Read Best Reviews of Casio Men''s CHR200-2V Heart Rate Monitor Watch Here
For the price it''s missing lots of functions needed on a runners watch:The BIG error is on the "Twin Timer" which the doc claims supports "interval training" (CASIO Guide 3073)
You can only set to within 10 seconds !! so if you need a 00"26 second interval or a 3"26 you would have to round up or down to "20 or "30 seconds!!!
But it is capable of setting up to 99 99 hour 59 minutes and 50 (not 59 remember) seconds intervals great.
Next time Casio produce a runners watch perhaps they should ask a runner.
