Giant Econo Lat Machine

Giant Econo Lat MachineI''d give this machine 10 stars if I could. At 46 i''ve been weight training/power lifting all my. I''ve been to and used a mulituide of gyms, gym equipment & home gyms, but this simple Lat machine is the best machine for the money. It only took about 1 hr. to assemble and you could literly assemble it from the picture alone. It''s incredibly stable & the slide action is smooth as silk. Shipping was extremely prompt, however the box was torn in several places (that''s Fed-Ex for ya) but their was no damage or missing parts. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to improve on a more dynamic workout and increased muscle gain, without a decrease in your wallets. A+++ to IncrediBody & Yukon for such a well built machine, at a cost much lower than the competition.

I bought this model because I have a Yukon brand Half Cage which is very sturdy and I have limited space for another machine. It arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. Some of the more expensive machines might have more options but this one serves our purpose very well.

It fits easily under an 8'' ceiling. All the exercises are done from the same side so it can be set against a wall.

The pulleys turn smoothly and the weights travel easily up and down the chrome pole. The plastic sleeve does not bind. The seat has a three setting height adjustment. The knee bar also has three height settings but you must pull the pad off one side and reposition the bar and then put the pad back on. Only really an issue if you are sharing the machine. The arms that hold the weights are sized for standard sized weights, not Olympics but spring clips are included. The lat and rowing bar can be stored clipped to the body of the machine so two less items on the floor.

It''s a simple, basic machine that should last a long time.

Didn''t take long to put together and it easily fits under an 8'' ceiling. If you have olympic weights, I would recommend buying olympic adapter sleeves so that your weights don''t shake and move around. I got some 14" ones so I can also add more weight too! Buying some other attachments with different types of grips for rowing and doing other exercises is highly recommended as well. I ordered a tricep rope, a single and a double rowing handle for mine.

I do have a couple complaints:

A square piece that more securely holds the seat post in place was missing...it was supposed to be pre-installed and it wasn''t anywhere in the box (already contacted Yukon about that...)

On the cable that runs from the lat pull down to the row pulley, there is a stupid washer that roams free on the cable! On the upper cable it is fine because it stays in place but on this row cable, it gets jammed in the row pulley! I unfortunately found this out the hard way and the washer jammed in the row pulley and proceeded to strip the row cable of it''s lining! I don''t see why that washer is even on the cable in the first place...I have duct taped it to the rubber ball on the end of the cable so that it doesn''t go anywhere. I will eventually just cut it off.

All in all, it is a great lat machine and I look forward to using it!

This machine was inexpensive compared to other lat machines I was eying up. When it arrived at my front door I honestly wasn''t expecting much. Aside from the box looking like it went through a war, the item was packed well and nothing was scratched or damaged. It took about 2 hours to put together while watching Family Guy and really wasn''t difficult at all. Once it was together i put the machine to the test by adding weights. I was really shocked to discover the pulleys and cable system was sturdy and smooth. It almost felt like a machine a would find in the gym.

Alright first I''ll address the issues that have come up in other people''s reviews. I''m a bit more mechanically oriented than some, so maybe this will help some people out. If you have a washer sliding around on the cable, it''s because you have the cable backwards. Seriously. Just push the ball to the other side of the cable, and TADAAAA!!! The washer is now trapped between the eyelet and the ball as it is supposed to be.

If the plate is hanging up on the vertical tower, (the one the weight goes up and down on) it''s because you didn''t install, or took off the two bumpers that are meant to keep your plates from hanging up on there. I''ve put every single relevant Olympic weight as the innermost weight (45, 35, 25, 10, 5) and none of them came any where near hanging up.

Now I do have 1 small gripe. The tower has hooks built in to carry the WG Lat Bar and the shorter straight bar. I was doing a CG row and had the WG Lat Bar hanging up, and the 45lb weights got caught on the lat bar as it was hanging there. The weights got totally stuck on it and I had to do some pretty careful finagling to get it to come off without letting all of the weights come crashing down. I solved this problem by not putting the lat bar in the provided hooks which worked 100%.

So, the thick and thin of it is,

1.) This is a great lat machine, probably the best you''ll see for the money

2.) The machine runs well and any problem I''ve heard of about it so far is an end user error.
