My wife and son are using this more than me. Works very smoothly and is able to handle my 200 plus pound body and my mutch smaller wife''s. Make sure to take the time to follow the instructions illistrations. Don''t get frustrated when you may have to remove a pulley or two after installing them to run the cables. You can''t do mutch better than this, other than going to the gym or buying a more expensive item.Read Best Reviews of Body-Solid StrengthTech EXM2500S Home Gym Here
I didn''t get this through Amazon. I nearly did, but I found one being sold locally by a private seller who bought it from Amazon a while back and never bothered to build it. If he only knew what he missed out on...First, I have to agree with everyone else about the instructions and assembly. I was building this solo for the most part and only called my husband in every now and then when I couldn''t reach the uppermost pieces and when it came time to run the cable through. It was definitely difficult to build. It took 6 hours and I ended up with a couple of extra parts. Fortunately, I got lucky and the parts I ended up with were easy enough to locate and put in at the end. This may have already been mentioned, but any small part that is labeled with any letter other than A, B, C, or D is likely already attached to a larger piece, so don''t bother looking through the hardware for those. Also, it does help to sort and label the hardware before starting.
The biggest obstacle I had was placement. The first piece that is laid on the floor is not the full length of the machine, but it''s pretty close. I would suggest leaving at least 3 feet on the leg lift side of the machine and another 3 feet or so on the other side. I ended up building it at an angle from the corner of the room so I would have enough room for the rowing station. This thing ended up being a LOT larger than I thought it would be. If you are constrained by space, maybe consider getting the 1500. However, as this model is only $50 bucks more, it might be worth it to make some room. The pec station adds a lot of exercises that you can''t get with the smaller model and the 2500 also comes with an extra 50 pounds, which means nothing to me since I will never need that much, but my husband definitely does, or thinks he does.
After it was built, I noticed a lot of tension for a few of the exercises. I was beginning to think that I messed up the cable feed, but since there are basically two pulley systems for all of the exercises, I tried different exercises and the tension seemed fine. This was a pretty strong indicator that I''m probably just in terrible shape.
As far as quality goes, this is an amazing machine. It does just about everything. I don''t have the leg press, but squats with kettlebells would cover that exercise. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is thinking about getting into shape. There is enough weight for me to really bulk up, although my goal is toning more than anything.
I should also include that my husband had some trouble accepting the new gym. He has had his old weight bench since before we met, which was about 18 years ago. He kept complaining that all he needed was his weight bench. Once the machine was built and he tried it out, he said "my weight bench is ****", and moved it into the garage. He went from cranky to just beaming once he saw everything that the new gym could do.
I highly recommend this machine to everyone. It''s an amazing value. I would have paid double for it. It''s strong and VERY heavy, so it won''t scoot across the floor like a lot of other equipment. It has enough exercises to cover almost everything. It''s dead quiet. Even the seats are comfortable. I have literally no complaints, other than the instructions.

This piece of exercise equipment is first class! It is rugged and well-built and provides a complete exercise program that you need for a fit body. (Minus the leg press) Mine is in a large finished basement on very rugged and thick equipment mats. It provides an excellent place to work out.My unit came with a large poster that shows how to use the equipment properly for each exercise I put my poster into a large frame and mounted it to the wall for reference. I had attached a photo of my equipment and the poster. When I was younger I used free weights and got quite strong. Unfortunately when you use free weights and lift very heavy weights (Like bench presses) you always need a spotter. Using this piece of equipment you don''t need a spotter and you can still get a good workout.
Here is a list of the exercises that this piece of equipment can allow you to do:
* Vertical grip chest press (Pectorals)
* Front lat pull down (Latissimus Dorsi)
* Seated triceps extension (Triceps)
* Horizontal grip chest press (Pectorals)
* Seated row (Latissimus Dorsi)
* Dips (Triceps)
* High cable crossover (Pectorals)
* Bent over row (Latissimus Dorsi)
* Standing Cable Curl (Biceps)
* Pectoral Fly (Pectorals)
* Shrugs (Trapezius)
* Seated triceps extension (Triceps)
* Deltoid raise (Deltoids)
* Rear Deltoid Fly (Deltoids & Trapezius)
* Ab crunch (Abdominals)
* Triceps press down (Triceps)
* Oblique bend (Obliques & Abdominals)
* Leg extension (Quadriceps)
* Leg adduction (Inner Thigh)
* Standing leg curl (Hamstrings)
This system allows you to do all of these up to 210 pounds without any cable changes. It also features a lifetime warranty on everything forever. This is a well-made and sturdy piece of equipment. I have had mine for many years and it looks like new. I highly recommend this as a very good piece of exercise equipment!
