I have never written a review for a product I purchased on Amazon, but I felt compelled to do so after my experience with the 16gb Motoactv. I had such high hopes for this watch. It had everything I was looking for. At the time I purchased it, the reviews had been mostly positive. Reading the Motoactv forum I could see that Motorola was responsive in listening to customer''s concerns and proactive in fixing software issues. I felt confident I was buying a great product. Fast forward a month and a half later and my Motoactv just stopped working. I had just passed Amazon''s 30 day return window so I had to deal with Motorola directly. Motorola instructed me to send it in for evaluation. They determined it had suffered "liquid damage" which is not covered by their warranty. Even if I wanted to pay them to fix it they will not. I wore the watch with the included wristband and was always careful not to get it wet even though it''s advertised as being water resistant. I am a runner and I do sweat, but you would think a "sports watch" would be better equipped to handle perspiration. It is not. Now the Motoactv forum is filled with complaints and Motorola''s representatives are not even responding anymore. Not to mention the bugs with their useless portal. With rumors that this product is now discontinued, it''s obvious support for this device is gone. It makes me sick to think that I spent two hundred and sixty dollars on this thing and it dies after less than six weeks of gentle use. Not to mention the added cost of purchasing a compatible heart-rate monitor and bluetooth headphones. In an effort to prevent a total financial loss, I am now going to send it to a reputable third party vendor who will hopefully be able to fix the damage to this ill-engineered device. Buyer Beware!

This is a great motivational tool with some really good features. GPS works well and the portal has a lot of useful information. My iPhone works with the Motoactv (for those that don''t know, iPhone will only work via wired headset, not through bluetooth. Android works on both). The coaching tools are great. Only negatives are yards only distances on the golf app (yet it has metric options on everything else) and there is a steep learning curve. Use the Motoactv forum for answers if you get stuck. Just about any questions you have will already have been answered.

Could have been great fitness tool to help track my workouts but there are some annoying items that make it really not worth the purchase.

1) While working out (running, weight training, etc) the volume will suddenly lower down to the lowest setting. This is very annoying because you physically have to raise the volume which is a pain in the butt if you have it strapped to your arm and it also takes you out of your workout "zone". Instead of concentrating on your workout now you are thinking about the Motoactv hoping it won''t do it again...which it will. According to other users on the Motoactv.com forum, this is a bug with the last firmware version.

2)The wireless sync does not work. I constantly have to remove the current wireless setting and re-add it to make it work. It happens so often that I just plug my Motoactv in to the computer to sync my workout data. I usually do the gym in the mornings and go to work afterwards meaning that I can''t review my workouts until I get home late at night.

3) As far as support, It looks like Motorola won''t be making anymore updates to this device. I haven''t seen any updates yet that address these issues and if you go thru the Motoactv.com forums a lot of folks are echoing my same thoughts.

On the PRO side, the GPS function and the heart rate monitor function work without issue.

I also wanted to paste the Motorola Warranty in case your Motoactv gets damaged.

*******

What type of damages are not covered by my warranty?

Damage and/or performance issues that result from contact with any liquid, water, rain or extreme humidity are excluded from warranty coverage.

Motorola will not repair or replace liquid-damaged products. They will be returned unrepaired.

*******

Good thing sweat isn''t a liquid because I could be in trouble.
