Chin-ups and pull-ups are good, simple, challenging exercises. This thing will let you do those and feel safe doing them, even if you''re quite tall. All you need to do is bend your knees for the duration, and make sure you don''t do the chin-ups so quickly that it makes the bar bounce.
I think it''s in poor taste that the one reviewer gave this product a 1-star rating, which is really the sole reason I''m taking a time out to post my review here. (I didn''t even buy mine from Amazon--it was an impulse buy at a drug store!) In short, don''t be lazy and then blame it on the product. Measure your doorframe, look at the pictures of the product, and figure out if it will fit your door.I have standard width doors but the door jambs are too thick for this bar. If you have an old house, measure both dimensions before you assume your doors are "standard."
