Dual Threat Synergy - Kettlebell and Sandbag Training

Dual Threat Synergy - Kettlebell and Sandbag TrainingI bought this video in the hopes of working kettlebells and sandbags into my conditioning program. I also enjoy follow along style workouts for conditioning so I can just turn off my brain and go. Even though I felt it was a little pricey at $40 (after including shipping), this appeared to be exactly what I was looking for so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.

At first I was quite pleased with the DVDs and packaging although not top quality the description on the back of the box outlined the basic workouts and the box included 2 DVDs. The first DVD has an introduction to the program and workouts 1 4. The second DVD contains workouts 5 8. With 8 workouts I thought this would keep me occupied for some time. Unfortunately this was not the case.

Each workout says it will take between 12 and 30 minutes to complete. However, these are not follow along workouts but only 1 round of each workout for demonstration purposes and each video demo is around 10 minutes. Also in order to perform the workout as prescribed you had better be ready to hit the pause button and have paper and pencil ready because the protocol for each workout will only flash on the screen for a few second before the demonstration begins.

Once the demonstrations begin both Josh Henkin and Troy M Anderson are excellent instructors and give very good pointers on how to do each movement correctly and safely. As advertised each workout has some very unique movements that will challenge balance, mobility and conditioning. However one setback to using such unorthodox movements is that they do not lend themselves to getting much stronger. But I don''t care because that''s what barbells are for!

Okay now for a few final nit-picks. The sound quality on these DVDs is awful. The music plays too loudly and often interrupts the voice instructions being given. Also one of the songs has a very distracting crazy-ass screaming sound. I don''t know why but it drove me nuts. Also when you first start the DVD the menu option on the far right is selected and on the second DVD the Apple computer logo appears intermittently. I told you these were nit-picks.

In summary these workouts do look like they are worthwhile and I will incorporate them into my strength and conditioning program even if I don''t feel like these videos are worth the $40 buck I shelled out.
