Kelly Coffey-Meyer''s 30-Minutes to Fitness Step Boxing

Kelly Coffey-Meyer''s 30-Minutes to Fitness Step BoxingThe two main workouts are somewhat difficult to learn all the steps the first time through, but give yourself a chance to learn the moves. The time goes by quickly & you can burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time. I rarely take advantage of the premixes, but I am in love with the Kickboxing drills premix. It is only 26 minutes all together & that includes the warm up & cool down. What more could you ask for! There is a modifier so you don''t really have to have a step, but it really adds a lot to the workout if you do. Kelly is so comfortable in front of the camera & does a great job of motivating you to keep up with the workout. Many premixes available make this a great bang for your buck!

I own most of Kelly''s workout DVDs each one has several options depending on the amount of time you have each one has modifications for lower intensity and she always has such great variety in steps never bored.

Even though she is generally considered easier to follow than most instructors, this one is harder to learn, so buck up and use it 5-6 times before you decide how you feel about it, especially if you don''t have a lot of experience doing kickboxing. There aren''t that many different steps to learn, but for me they weren''t intuitive (I, myself, am not much of a kick boxer). Once you have the moves down, though, it''s a great, tough, whole-body 1/2 hour. You finish feeling like you worked out hard for an hour or more.

I really like Kelly Coffey-Meyer. I admire how she can keep you motivated and energized without coming across as too effervescent or cheesy. I have a couple of her other workouts including Cardio Kick Step-Boxing, which I love. I also have one or 2 of her other 30 minutes to fitness DVDs and I really like those so I was expecting to like this DVD and I was not disappointed. I consider myself an intermediate exerciser working towards advanced but most days I don''t have the time for an advanced workout. To me this provides the right level of challenge for a regular day it is doable but I definitely work up a sweat and I am even out of breath at times. But one of the best features is the premix options you get work out 1 & 2 with dumbbell intervals and with kickbox drills, then you get the drills alone as one workout and the dumbbell segments together as one workout, and a couple other premixes that I haven''t tried yet ... and the premixes are not as "choppy" as some others I have seen. (many times I haven''t really made use of the premix options on DVDs simply because I found them too disjointed) This makes the DVD very flexible and I can see myself getting quite a bit of use out of it.

I agree with the reviewer who said this was "Boxing with a Step Add On" but this is actually what I was looking for. I have got great results in the past couple years with kickboxing workouts so I was looking to add some variety to my kickbox workouts. If you are looking to add to your step workout repertoire, you might be disappointed with this.

Overall, I would recommend this to intermediate advanced exercisers looking for a kickbox workout. (even ambitious beginners can give it a try as there is a girl doing it without the step). Both workouts are relatively short but the step adds intensity. The choreography is complex enough to keep it interesting but not so complex that you can''t build a sweat cos you''re pausing and rewinding so much. Finally, the great selection of usable premixes makes this a good buy.

I am a big fan of Kelly Coffey-Meyer, but I must admit I wasn''t sure I was going to like this workout. I like step and I like boxing but didn''t know if I was going to like them together. Not to mention I prefer simpler choreography, anything overly complex or fast paced doesn''t usually work for me.

Good news! This workout is very doable and moves at a nice pace. It may take a few tries to get the steps down but once you do it''s a lot of fun. You get two 30 minute workouts here, plus a handful of premixes. Among the premixes are a kickboxing drills workout that does not use the step, and a dumbell drills workout. Other premixes include the each workout with the extra drills added if you want a longer workout.

I probably prefer the second workout over the first workout, but they are both enjoyable. I am glad that I picked this one up, I don''t have any other DVD like it and it adds something different to my collection. While there is not a lot of impact in this workout, Lauren is still there to modify for those who prefer no impact, like myself.

Kelly''s DVDs are such a great buy, you really can''t go wrong with any of the workouts in this series. I have tried most of them and I have my favorites, this one is among them. Give it a try! You may be surprised, I was!

Overall, I rate this one 4 and a half stars.
