A foam roller is often used like a pressure point/trigger point tool and allows the individual to work aspects of the body that may be hard to reach otherwise. The rolling motion also flushes the tissues and helps to circulate blood through the legs. Both help to loosen the tendon and muscle tissues. Pain is often referred. Knee pain is often from injured or contracted tendons and white tissue outside of the knee area. Using a roller is often painful, but often helps to alleviate chronic pain in the knees and legs. If you don''t know anatomy get yourself an instruction book to go with the roller, or google the instructions.
I borrowed a foam roller from a friend who told me of a similar problem he had solved with the roller, and was searching for an identical one for myself. Easier said than done. After reading the reviews I purchased the SPRI Black HD roller. It arrived on time and in good condition. It seems to be holding up well and is not falling apart nor is it losing its shape.
I find that this roller is not as firm as the original one I was using. The ends rise up off the floor when I use it.(I''m 200 plus) However the softer aspect of this roller is easier on my legs and I seem to use it a bit more as the pain is not quite so intense. I continue to use the harder roller to get deep down into the tissues after using the SPRI.
I have purchased a second of these SPRI rollers for a non running friend who suffers knee issues likely to be amplified by IT and tendon tightness. I believe its qualities will suit his needs well.
If you are new to foam rollers this may be a good pick. If you are an old hand at them and are seeking the hardest one out there this may not be the one you want. I don''t know which one is as most lack identification markings. Quality and physical aspects may even vary with the production run.Don''t waste your money on the cheaper ones. Even though they say high density, they still get squished and useless within a month, and then you will have to spend another $25 for a new one. Spend the extra $10-12 and get this. That''s what happened to me, I thought I was being smart by getting the cheap high density one ... it became useless in a month, and now I bought this one. Its perfect!!! Has not deformed even slightly after 2 months ... great product! Its the foam roller you want.

I have had Tband problems for years now. This thing works and loosens them like nothing else. It also hurts like *(&! but it is worth it. I also find it works well for my back and if you put it on a large table, it can help with stiff forearms too.Read Best Reviews of SPRI 36-Inch High Density Foam Roller Here
I have never "rolled" before but this thing is nice. I got it after seeing the many uses of foam rolling on a weight lifting website. I have only used it a few times now, but I love it. I no longer need to beg my wife to crack my back. a few passes on this thing and I sound like a bowl of Rice Crispies! It is also great for my IT bands before and after doing heavy squats. I have been having pain in my left shoulder after doing bench and overhead presses and using this roller for 2 days seems to have nipped it in the bud. I never thought I would be one to use this type of product even though I workout by myself at home, but I am a believer now. This firm roller is just what I was looking for. It is sturdy and has very little give. It is just like the one they had where I went for physical therapy. Get this one!
