Pearl Izumi Men''s Select Tri Short

Pearl Izumi Men''s Select Tri Short, Large, BlackI purchased these a couple of weeks ago for a triathlon and since they were my first set of Tri-shorts, I wasn''t sure how much I would miss a regular pad during the bike ride. No worries though! These are wonderful. They are well built, good quality and supportive. The pad is just enough to not notice on the swim and run, yet still perfectly fine for the bike ride. Spend the money I am ordering 2 more pairs for training.

As usual, the shipping time was great and I appreciated the minimal packaging on this item.

I''m a huge fan of Pearl Izumi''s gear (I''ve got their gloves, cycling shorts, cool weather tights and cold weather Amphib tights), but this product fell a bit short for me.

I purchased the medium shorts, and everything fit great except the leg gripper portion. They felt kind of like tourniquets on my thighs. So, for those of you with slimmer legs and a 32-34 inch waist, I would recommend these. If you happen to have mutant thighs (which I evidently do), then I''d opt for another brand or style.

I bought these twice ( and returned them ) because the leg grip at the bottom of the shorts is way too tight. I have fairly skinny legs (5''10" 160 lbs) and I am afraid to use them in a race because they feel like they might cut off my circulation. Maybe a size large would be better... except that they fit well everywhere else.

Bought these to train for a sprint triathlon. I ride upwards of 20 miles at a clip for my training and have found these to be very comfortable. The chamois that lines the inside provides enough padding for me although certainly not as much padding as what you''d find in dedicated cycling shorts. I don''t swim in them but likely will on the day of the Tri. Running, I find, is just as comfortable and the amount of padding doesn''t cause any issues for me. I''d recommend to a friend and/or buy again.

I normally would wear a medium, but these mediums were way too tight. Returned for a large. Other than that, well constructed and quality materials throughout.

Paul Katami Burn & Build DVD

Paul Katami Burn & Build DVDI have worked out consistently for 33 years, I run, compete in triathlons and bike races. I love to cross train to lesson potential for injuries, so I consider myself at an advanced level. I love this workout. Its challenging, and Katami explains the workouts clearly and his cues are easy to follow. you will not regret ordering this. You can make it easier with no to light weights or make it harder by using heavier weights.

I''m an advanced exerciser, or I thought I was. I like Cathe, Michelle Dozois, Amy Bento, Ilaria, Anthony Diluglio, to name a few. I have several of Paul''s DVDs among them his newest kettlebell DVDs which are excellent. This one is a bootcamp style super-challenging workout. Using a kettlebell and high step is an extra perk for me because I love both. This really kicked my butt, but what makes this doable is Paul''s excellent cueing and calm friendliness. For me, a yelling, condescending instructor who doesn''t do the workout him or herself is a real turn-off. No worries here. Paul rocks! Also, the bonus ab section is fantastic.

Be prepared for a long workout. It is over 1 hour and ten minutes.

This challenging and intense workout is a mix of aerobic movements, coupled with weight work. For weights, you need a single moderate (between light and medium) kettlebell or dumbbell. I used a kettlebell, and for certain moves, (clean and press type moves), I used a dumbbell.

If you want to make it easier, don''t use the high step platform; it''s easy to adapt the movements. I also made the workout easier by doing simpler versions of moves that were too complicated or strenuous, so the workout is doable. In addition, Paul Katami gives a few seconds break between each exercise group, so there''s time to breathe and recover. Moreover, one woman demonstrates easier dumbbell moves, while Paul Katami works with one man and one woman showing the kettlebell moves on the high step.

Mr. Katami explains clearly with excellent cueing.

This workout was tough in a great way. My background is running, doing Cathe and P90X and IMO this was harder. Yet somehow it was really fun and the time flew by. I started with kettlebells off and on a few years ago but got more serious recently. The step added a whole new dimension. Paul Katami is very likable and gives helpful pointers the whole way throughout. I can see this video could be modified for an intermediate ( lighter kettlebell, lower step), but definitely not for beginners. I know this is going to be one I keep going back to and look forward to all Mr. Katami''s kettlebell workouts. I do have his Kettlebell Drills and his Kombos DVDs and also highly recommend them. This DVD is an Advanced Gem!!!!

Paul Katami does an excellent job of instruction along with demos on proper form(which is crucial)thoughout the DVD. I have used high step and kettlebells in various workouts for the past two years, but never together....HOLY MOLY did it kick my butt! This is definitely an advanced workout and there is a woman doing modifications, but the mods are for intermediates, not beginners. I agree with another reviewer, Paul''s calm voice makes the intense workout go by easily. I had no desire to yell or curse back at the TV like I do with other instructors. I can''t say enough positive comments, just be warned...it will leave you weak in the knees and in a pool of sweat.

Trigger Point Performance Smart-Core Level 1-70 Minute Instructional Workout DVD

Trigger Point Performance Smart-Core Level 1-70 Minute Instructional Workout DVDThis apparatus helped my hamstrings much better than my chiropractor did. Overall I have cut way back on having to visit my chiropractor. Som of these stretches might not be suited to the elderly or for those who are not physically active

The DVD offer a great explanation, on how to exercise (with the Smart-core roller). It''s a bit pricey for a workout DVD.

Life Fitness LifeCycle 9500HR Recumbent Exercise Bike

Life Fitness LifeCycle 9500HR Recumbent Exercise BikeThough I don''t own this, I use the same model at my gym. I prefer the Life Fitness because I get an excellent cardio workout. My resting heart rate was recently measured prior to surgery at 53 BPM with a textbook EKG.

The stepping motion is preferable because it fits my foot, which is a size 13. The other stair climber that rotates actual steps does not fit my foot and I have to climb at an angle, which can be uncomfortable at times.

The features are fine though I don''t measure my heart rate while using this fitness tool. I find the monitor location to be inconvenient. The other features primarily deal with some combination of stepping speed and time. The flights of stairs are measured in tenths until you hit 100 flights, then by single whole digits.

The only drawback that I can see is that it is not ergo-designed if you need to rest your arms as you climb. You need to place a towel on the bars in order to pad your arms. This can be a problem if you have a neuro dysfunction in your arm, such as ulnar nerve impingement (my problem). Otherwise, I would have given this 5/5 stars.

I should say that because I do not own this tool, I have no idea what the maintenance is like. How often does it break down, what are the common flaws, how expensive is it to maintain year over year? In other words, the cost of ownership should be considered before purchasing.

Live Well 360 Core Fitness Bag

Live Well 360 Core Fitness BagI''ve been using the Core for several months now and find it to be the real deal! The design is great, the style is cool, but what I appreciate most is the versatility. I use it for the gym, for travel, and sometimes for work. If you are looking for one bag for all things...This.Is.It!

The Core is awesome. If I had to pick a favorite feature, hands down, it''s the shoe compartment. Though I''ve actually found another use for it... to roll up my *Broga towel and gear after class. Also, the inside pocket setup is genius. If I were to total up the amount of minutes I''ve saved by not having to dig around for my iPod/keys/bling seriously, by now, I''ve tacked an extra week onto my life. You don''t think about stuff like that until you''ve had something better. And obvi, the most important reason it just looks rad. I think deep down we all like having the cool new thing that other people have never seen. I can''t tell you how many people have come up and asked me about my bag.

I don''t know what it is in the design but I load this back and it is easy to carry. It is also very durable it doesn''t rip or the zipper seems very sturdy.

I find this back perfect for the gym it is small but holds a ton.

I love, love, LOVE my core bag. I tote it back and forth to the gym with me every single day, full of everything a woman could ever want to get ready in the morning plus more. The pockets make it easy to keep track of things and the separate shoe compartment is genius. I also love that it is carryon size for planes. It travels the world with me and makes me feel like an Olympic athlete while I carry it. I''ve had mine for nearly two years and after using it every single day and taking it across North America a few times, it still looks brand new.

I am not a huge spender when it comes to fitness gear or products but the Core is a must have gym bag for anyone on the go! It''s versatile, functional and stylish. I love all of the pockets that make "where I am I going to put this?" questions a no brainer. The extra shoe compartment is pure genius. I practice bikram and use the extra space to put my wet clothes after class. It''s so nice to not have sweaty gym clothes mingling with everything else in your bag. I also use the bag as an airplane carry on and to hold all my produce on Sunday''s after a Farmer''s Market visit. See what I mean? Versatile and functional! I have had the bag for almost 2 years and it still looks brand new which makes the bag a steal! I really couldn''t recommend it more to anyone looking for a gym bag that can also serve multiple purposes.

Living Life: Devotional Exercise for Christians (DVD)

Living Life: Devotional Exercise for Christians
  • reduces stress and promotes relaxation
  • stengthens the body & renews the mind
  • increases flexibility
  • gentle exercise for beginners & beyond
  • develops a deeper, more intimate relationship with God

I purchased this DVD as an alternative to my WholyFit videos, which I love and do daily, but I wanted a little change in routine. This video is mostly low-impact or no-impact stretching. It is very slow-paced to the point of being boring. Even the narrator sounds bored instead of relaxing. If you are looking for a devotional exercise video, then I highly recommend any of the WholyFit videos. This video is not comparable. Its a good stretching routine, but that''s about it.

What a beautiful product to have at home. The guided practice is filled with vibrations of kindness and love ... which allow me to relax into each gentle pose. A few of my favorite parts include the unexpected dolphin sighting at the beginning (love that!), the "happy baby", and when the narrator takes me through "Being Still..." I found this DVD to resonate well for what I need --a gentle way to just be and care for my body and self.
