This series is exactly like"Yoga For Life" without the workshop and without holding a pose through a commercial. I''ve watched the Veria channel since it came on TV and have practiced "Yoga For Life" for almost 7 years. It''s my favorite yoga program. I was
disappointed to find "Yoga For Life" no longer in its regular time slot on Veria, so I bought APY60.
I found the poses to be identical to those in "Yoga For Life." The "Yoga For Life" DVD is about a 30-35 minute workout with about a 7-10 minute workshop at the beginning. What is different is the 10 minutes of Morning Blends on APY60. The workouts are approximately 40 minutes, with some being a little longer. Then the biggest difference is the change in habits that are part of
the program and the Paleo Diet adopted as the eating plan. I''ve been eating health food for years and am already on the Paleo
Diet. So for me there was no big change. It just allows me to mix up my workout so that I don''t get bored and so my body
doesn''t adapt to the same workout all of the time.
I''ve been doing yoga for over 12 years. I began doing asanas (still poses) with "Yoga Zone." I moved to vinyasas with Kurt
Johnsen''s "Yoga For Life," American Power Yoga "Strength," and American Power Yoga 60. I have other power yoga programs, including "Yoga Zone," Bryan Kest and Mark Blanchard. What I like best about Kurt Johnsen is his saying, "Give me an hour
and I''ll give you the power to change your life." It will. I''m a 65 year old female who has raised my bone density 9% with
Kurt Johnsen''s power yoga. I''m an equestrian who does rough sports like mounted fox hunting. I rely on Kurt Johnsen''s
DVDs to keep me cardio conditioned, flexible, and strengthened. Most equestrians have no fitness program beyond riding &
driving. I might address health issues some more. I have fibromyalgia. I rely on Kurt Johnsen''s workout DVDs to relieve pain for
24 hours. Doing Kurt''s workouts for 6 days per week has allowed me to live a normal life while other fitness training bores me
to death and doesn''t relieve as much pain.
APY60 DVD workouts could confuse a beginner who has never done yoga with Kurt Johnsen''s team before. I disagree with Ms.
Jeremiah, who gave the one negative review. The APY60 poses could never injure a practitioner. The beginning yoga practitioner is to watch the team member who does only modified poses on the far left side of the TV screen at all times. Listen to Kurt''s voice. He will mention alignment in poses such as warrior II. For the person who wants a greatly detailed explanation of the most difficult poses, then I recommend buying "Yoga For Life" to learn the proper alignment for the poses. The workshop explanation is particularly detailed, but proper technique is mentioned throughout all of the workouts. The APY60 DVD is not for a beginning yoga practitioner who has only done asanas (still poses and who has little cardio fitness. However, when I first started doing power yoga with Kurt Johnsen, I did the workouts anyway by pausing the DVD & taking a rest. Gradually, I needed fewer rests &, finally, I needed none.
Compared to Mark Blanchard''s power yoga, APY60 is leisurely paced.

I purchased this system after an impulse buy of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Power Squad Bod! Body Slimming Yoga. I liked his delivery and wanted something I could follow through the busy holiday season that would keep me on track with my yoga workouts. My flexibility used to be fantastic, but is limited by weight gain as I have aged. I state this because those who think they are "too big" to do yoga, I don''t necessarily feel that is so and unlike some programs geared toward bigger people--this will challenge you versus just making you feel like you wasted your time with some minimal "stretching" movements. It is as hard or as easy as you make it physically.
The system consists of 10 full length (averaging 45-50 minute) workouts, a bonus endurance workouts you can use weights with, and 10 weeks of morning blends. It also consists of a nutrition guide and cookbook, but what''s neat to me is that there is something new every week in video format as well. There is a work book to guide you through the morning blends (as well as a smaller one to carry), and rubber bracelets if you choose to use them to remind you of your intention/goals of the day, stickers if you choose to use them to remind you of things like taking a deep breath or smiling (you put these in areas you are likely to see, i.e., for me the take a deep breath would be on the dashboard to remind me to take one during traffic).
The workouts are sound, Kurt''s delivery and interaction with the entire "class" is great. I *do* feel like I''m in a live yoga class because even if he or someone else goes off script, which isn''t often, it''s just part of the class. The music is nice, what you expect for quality yoga DVDs, and the set is like a yoga studio. I would say a beginner through advanced intermediate will definitely grow with this system. He incorporates pieces of martial arts including qigong and tai chi type movements as. He shows or explains at least 1 modification for each movement, sometimes everyone in the class (4 people plus Kurt, the people rotate weekly) is in a different position of a pose. These are "power" yoga workouts, but they are in my opinion not yoga on crack. The posts are not done at breakneck injury-inducing speed I''ve seen in some live and video classes. The idea here is that while some poses are tough, such as life, keeping your breath calm through them is the goal. It does carry over into life as anyone who practices yoga can agree. Yoga is not about downward dogs and the physical poses, and I like that Kurt makes sure that is clear. Kurt thoroughly explains the movements, keeps the flow going so it is not a choppy program, and you feel stretched AND RELAXED by the time you are done. During the classes I always got into the zone and time flew by. You do the same workout week for 6 days, with a new morning blend daily, for 10 weeks in a row. Each week''s workout has a slightly different focus, but they all come together throughout the program. I know for me I loved having the ability to go deeper into a pose I could not previously or just attempting it was very empowering.
Now the BEST part of this system to me is the morning blends. These are about 10-20 minute blends you do in the morning before you get started with your day. You don''t need a mat. They consist of physical movement, setting intentions or goals for the day, and yes meditation. Kurt designed his system to appeal to more Westerners so you are not going to hear "Om" (which does not bother me, but for some people it''s a turn off). I find these to be dessert BEFORE eating that are 100% calorie free. There are 6 NEW daily blends for the entire 10 weeks for a total of 60 different blends. Some of the challenges are simple such as putting your fork down between bites as far as meals, others more challenging to do with personal growth. Kurt does not "require" anything (this is not a boot-camp mentality or punish your body program) to be done; my take, was he wants you to take what you need from this program for now and leave the rest, understanding needs change daily. I cannot say enough about the morning blends and even on my off day I did one because they are addictive and you feel great to set the tone and mood for your day.
All in all, I think this is a great system with sound nutritional advice, for me it empowered me to make a lot of changes in the 60 days I did it career and health wise, and I craved the daily blends. WTG Kurt!

I am 44-years-old and have struggled with my flexibility for years. I had trouble getting out of bed in the morning and had to give up some much-loved activities.
I am on Day 14 of this program and am loving it. I slowly but surely am feeling better and better. I already feel 15 years younger. Most surprisingly, it has de-stressed me in so many ways, beyond the physical. And I do anticipate getting back into jiu jitsu (which I had given up due to injuries) soon.
The program is beautifully laid out, Kurt could not be more encouraging. Don''t get me wrong: this program is hard work. I find it quite challenging, but never more than I can handle.
I cannot say enough about this program. Buy it. Trust me. If you simply follow the instructions you will feel like a new person soon.

Since there are other reviews that give a break-down of APY60, I''d like to just share what it''s doing for me. I am a 40yo mama of five, 100+ pounds overweight, and about to begin week 4. I was already a Kurt Johnsen fan from his Strength DVD (I was so much more fit back then!) and later the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader one. As a very flexible person the moves I cannot effectively do are because of my belly fat or lack of strength~but that''s changing! I do a lot of the modifications and always start every move, sometimes stopping and waiting for the next move if it''s too much. By the end of the week''s practice I am able to do most everything (still with the modifications done by the modifier). Keep in mind I am taking this at my own pace! I try to blend every day (my kids also enjoy the Daily Blends!), but I often repeat a day''s Blend until I can follow it with a practice, as some days I''m sore and needing a rest. This means it takes me longer to finish a week, but I find that I come back stronger the next day. :)
I am also a CrAzY Christian lady, my faith is still intact, and I am so happy with how APY60 is changing my outlook on life for the better! I share this for those who think yoga and faith cannot coexist. APY60 does not feel "hokey". By Day 4 I noticed changes in my posture~it felt like my butt was very high up on my back~LOL! By Day 10 I felt like I could flourish in life, even under scrutiny. At Day 17 my stomach feels very, very, very tight~even though you can''t see it with the eye under all the fat. ;) It''s actually difficult to slouch, even though I have ridonkulous boobilage. I FEEL like a slim lady, even though I''m not (yet). I am better at overcoming life''s stress, and there is a huge difference in my lung capacity! The quickness of these changes are incredible to me having been big into weight lifting in the past.
The nutritional changes are introduced gradully~I love the way this system builds upon itself! I have honestly not kept up with all of them, but I look forward to doing so. The recipes are yummy and AMAZING! I am finding that I am naturally not eating past full and incorporating better eating habits without thought. I cannot wait to discover how much more my life will be changed at the end of Day 60, and then I look forward to doing it again! :) It truly is a life-changing system. I did not believe that yoga really could change so much outside of the physical!

None of the positive reviews are from employees of Apy60! The program works, and that is why u will only see one bad review. I knew nothing about yoga and my husband refused to even try yoga, but Kurt''s easy to follow instructions and his funny personality had us both hooked. I started Apy60 2 months after having my baby and I lost 60 pounds and my hubby lost 30. I don''t suffer from anxiety attacks anymore and I am happier and healthier inside and out! Kurt doesn''t expect to be your crutch, he will teach you how to incorporate yoga into your everyday life and even create your own routine. This is my second round doing this series and I''m learning more things than the first time. It''s not only yoga, it''s mediation, appreciation, reflection and a total lifestyle change for the better. I cannot say enough on how this program has made me a better person!
